The Indian Removal Act
The Indian removal act was created after the demand to get political and military action involved in removing Native Americans from the southern states of America, this action was made official by President Andrew Jackson. The Indian removal act was justified because the settlers or the "common man" (a fundamental term used for white males) wanted to expand their territory for farm land and civilization, however the space was taken by a group of Native americans known as the Cherokees. The Cherokees were forcfully removed from their homes and taken to stockades where they were treated poorly and they were herded up and compressed into a small space like cattle. The supporters or followers in the Indian removal act thought of the Native Americans as lower class and that they are filth and should be discriminated and treated poorly. The Native americans for the most part followed orders, but those who resisted were likely murdered as a result. The Indian Removal act became a form of sectionalism because the colonist seperated the Native Americans as if they were lesser and if they had less rights or authority, the colonist completely divided themselves from the cherokees because the settlers were better in comparison. So due to this the settlers had no mercy, care for the cherokees and took there land families and lives away from them.
